Út í óvissuna – Two Icelandic actresses considered for the lead role
“We are considering two Icelandic actresses for the lead role, Jónína Scott, who lives in London, and Ragndeiður Steindórsdóttir is also a strong candidate,” said Robert Mackintosh, producer of the television series, which is based on Desmond Bagley’s novel Út í óvissuna [Running Blind]. The story is set in Iceland, and will be filmed this summer. “In addition, there will be 8 or 9 Icelandic actors considered for smaller roles, but I don’t want to mention any names now, as no contracts have been finalised” said Mackintosh.
Regarding the main roles, Mackintosh said they have invited one Russian and two English actors, but he would not disclose any names in that regard.
Filming will begin in Scotland in mid-May and the team will arrive in Iceland on 29 May, and will then stay in the country for 8 weeks during filming. The plan is to make three 50-minute episodes of the story for television, and Mackintosh said that the episodes would not be finished until the beginning of winter at the earliest, however the series would be shown soon after its production.
